about

This piece was started in 2015 after Kevin spent time in Hawaii with his sister, Maire, and her husband, Aaron. He was there when Aurora was born. I recorded Kevin playing several phrases of rhythm chords in 5/8 on ukulele at our Flower Avenue house. I chopped them into sections and re-assembled them to make the form. I added a few parts back then, but revisited it in December 2020. I added marimba (sampled), djembe, doumbek, castanets, drums, and hammered dulcimer (sampled). I think Kev would like it.
