about

This piece was started in March 2020 here in CT.  Kevin is playing charango, which is a Bolivian string instrument. He had a kind of flamenco way of playing it, that he also applied to uke.  This was a free improv that we did with charango and marimba.  I like the way it developed, although there were a few spots where the time gets a little unstable.  But I like that too.  I asked Dan Ryan, my friend Mary Ryan's son, if he would try adding some guitar to it.  He sent back 3 beautiful tracks, I then added doumbek and drums.  I tried to make it sound as if we were all jamming together.  In the process I had many moments of pure connection with Kevin.
